Christ Begins His Sermon

St Matthew Chapter 5

And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain ... and when He was set, His disciples came unto Him ... and He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit ... for their's is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn ... for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek ... for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness ... for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful ... for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart ... for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers ... for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake ... for their's is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.  Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad ... for great is your reward in heaven ... for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Ye are the salt of the earth ... but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? ... it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick ... and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works ... and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The Discipline And Doctrine Of Wisdom

Proverbs Chapter 9 Verse 1

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars ...

She hath killed her beasts ... she hath mingled her wine ... she hath also furnished her table.

She hath sent forth her maidens ... she crieth upon the highest places of the city: 'Who is simple, let him turn in hither.'

As for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him: 'Come, eat my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled ... forsake the foolish, and live ... and go in the way of understanding.':

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame ... and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee ... rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Give instructions to a wise man and he will be yet wiser ... teach a just man, and he will increase his learning.

The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom ... and knowledge of the holy is understanding.

For by Me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself ... but if thou scornest, thou alone shall shalt bear it.

A foolish woman is clamorous ... she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city ... to call passenger who go right on their ways ... whoso is simple, let him turn in hither ... and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him: 'Stolen water are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.'

But he knoweth not that the dead are there ... and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
